Praised by the Houston Press for how he “…amazes with a clarion tenor that has the reedy projection of superstar-from-yore Jan Peerce” Peter Lake is an internationally performing crossover artist returning as Old Deuteronomy in Really Useful Group’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS aboard the Oasis of the Seas with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines International this summer.  Currently Based in New York City, Peter will sing during the 2024 winter season in a concert series with the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea for their holiday performances all over the New Jersey region.

In June 2024 he joined Pacific Opera Project in their critically acclaimed production of Madama Butterfly. This particular interpretation is reimagined in an original translation in both English and Japanese and featuring complete ethical casting.  He also originated this rendition of Pinkerton in 2019. Critics wrote of Peter’s performance,

The role of Pinkerton is rapidly becoming a signature role for Peter as he will be reprising the role in 2025 with New Jersey Verismo Opera and Light Opera of New Jersey. He will also debut the vocally demanding role of the Prince in Gulfshore Opera’s Rusalka in the spring of 2025.

In February of 2024 he made his role debut as Roberto in Puccini’s rarely performed Le villi with a return to Mobile Opera.  2023 saw Peter debut in Really Useful Group’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, and included a season in high demand as a concert performer. In the fall of 2022 Peter performed as a soloist in Pensacola Opera’s concert gala, “Forty Forward,” celebrating the company’s long and successful history.  In August of 2022 Peter performed his original cabaret celebrating the life of Mario Lanza for the Savannah VOICE Festival.  While there he also performed resident composer Michael Ching’s Alice Ryley/Anna Hunter in multiple roles. 

In August of 2021 Peter debuted in Michael Ching’s opera A Royal Feast as Ramiro at the Savannah VOICE Festival.  Also in August Peter performed Rodolfo in the Savannah VOICE Festival’s production of La bohème.  In April 2019 Peter made his house and role debuts with Pacific Opera Project and Opera in the Heights! as Pinkerton in their ground breaking English-Japanese production of Madame Butterfly.  In May of 2019 Peter made is role debut as Rodolfo in Natchez Music Festival’s production of La bohème, and in the fall of 2019 he made another role debut as Alfredo in Mobile Opera’s La traviata.  In the spring of 2020 Peter made his house debut with Gulfshore Opera in his second Rodolfo in La bohème. 

During the quarantine months of 2020 Peter sang as a soloist for multiple virtual concerts produced by Sherrill Milnes’ Savannah VOICE Festival.  Additionally Peter produced and sang a solo virtual recital for Mobile Opera and sang Florestan and Jaquino in selected scenes from Fidelio for Intermezzi’s virtual Beethoven 250 Festival.  In the Spring of 2021 continued to sing in virtual productions and perform solo cabarets and recitals.  In March of 2021 Peter debuted Paolino in Mobile Opera’s Il matrimonio segreto. 

In December 2017 Peter was invited to China to perform a series of American Art song recitals.  He sang selections by Samuel Barber, Rorem, Ives, and Foster at such prestigious universities as: Central Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shandong University, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and Suzhou University.
